Haddenham St Mary’s CE school hosted a Dance Festival on two evenings in March, featuring dancers from each of the HASSP partnership schools. This event was initiated in 2014 as part of the HASSP (Haddenham School Sports Partnership) initiative which seeks to promote physical education and sport in collaborative activities across the three schools, thereby deriving the maximum value from extra government funding for PE. Great fun was had by all and the children really enjoyed performing collaboratively.
On a cold and blustery, but thankfully dry, afternoon, the HASSP schools got together for some cross country races at Haddenham Junior School.
Ten races were held for boys and girls in Years 1 to 5. They were of different lengths but all took in the small wooded area and the school’s only ‘hill’ for a genuine ‘cross country’ experience.
The children held out against the chilly weather and supported each other enthusiastically.
Medals were awarded for the first three finishers in each race. (see table of results)
Well done all competitors!

HASSP Cross Country March 2nd 2015
I want to do Cross Country Running again and again and again!!
The Dance Festival was the best night of my life…
One of the first public events that the HASSP collaboration has produced was the Spring Dance Festival, hosted at Haddenham St Mary’s CE School on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th March.
The local schools taking part were Haddenham Community Infant School, the Community Junior School, Cuddington and Dinton CE School and, of course, host school Haddenham St Mary’s.
Children of all ages performed some highly energetic and creative dances, delighting a capacity audience of parents, guardians and staff.
The event was a wonderful expression of the local schools’ collaboration, reflecting the obvious effort that had gone into choreographing and practising the dances and the delightful ways in which young children can be encouraged to participate in physical activities beyond the traditional sports and games.
On Wednesday March 19th Haddenham Community Junior School hosted the HASSP Cross Country Competition. This included teams from all schools in the Partnership, from Years 2 to 6. A great time was had by all. Medals were awarded to the first three runners in each race. Please see the results below:
